MDSM87 .. Yapha's first sketch!

**We are running late with our Top Picks from last week's challenge so we will be announcing them next Sunday with this week's picks. **

Hi Everyone! Yapha here with my very first sketch for MDS Monday! I am super excited! I have a couple fun tricks I used on this page, that you are welcome to try as well. The first one is to change the size of the patterns when you fill a punch with patterned paper.

Simply fill it, then double click on the shape, and you have the option to zoom in or out on the patterns by clicking the plus and minus. The second thing I did was to fill a group of photo boxes with one picture. Select the photo boxes you want to fill, group them together, then drag your photo on top. It makes for a great look! We can't wait to see how you choose to fill all of these little squares!

Challenge Guidelines:
  • Please create a new MDS project for the current challenge.
  • Provide a link back to MDS Monday or use the Challenge Graphic above within your post.
  • Link directly to your Post for this challenge, not your entire blog. (So we can find your project)
  • You can create a Card, Scrap Page or 3-D Object with the Sketch.
  • The Challenge will end on Saturday October 25th @ 12pm EST.
  • Have fun!

MDSM86... Let's try a Technique!

Hi Everyone!  It's Heidi.  I thought today we'd try a background technique that could be applied to a card or scrapbook page, the herringbone technique.  You can find a step-by-step video by Juanita Golson on mydigitalstudio.net.

A couple of hints -
  • I followed Juanita's method for one quadrant of the herringbone pattern.  I then grouped them together (without the first three main divider pieces) and copied and pasted for the other three quadrants.
  • I created the herringbone pattern on a separate page, exported as a JPEG, and then inserted into another page so that I could mat the layer neatly onto a background page base.
Here's a look at the herringbone pattern created on a separate page -

Have fun trying a new technique, and I can't wait to see what you make!

  • The Challenge will end on Saturday October 11th @ 12pm EST.
  • Have fun!

MDSM85 Make it your own!

Welcome back to MDS Monday.. It's Holly here with a fun new challenge for you. Instead of giving you a sketch to use this week you get to pick your own. We'll kinda... this week's challenge is to pick a pre-made template in MDS and then change up the elements and make it your own. You could remove an element, change the pattern papers or the sentiment etc.

Be sure to show us the original page in your post along with your version so we can see how you changed it up! My page below shows how I changed up the page layout we used for the challenge graphic this week.

  • The Challenge will end on Saturday October 11th @ 12pm EST.
  • Have fun!
We can't wait to see what you create... Check out our Design Team's projects below for some great Inspiration!

Tami's Picks for MDSM#84!

A big thank you to everyone who designed vintage pages this week!  ALL the pages were absolutely gorgeous!!!  I was totally inspired by each one of you.  I loved seeing the different interpretations of the sketch, and your creative ideas.  It really made picking a winner hard!

Sharon Maranich -- Sharon's Inkie Fingers

I absolutely love the way Sharon layered numerous overlays!  The resulting look is just gorgeous.  I also love the sepia tones, doily and soft blooms.  I think it was really smart to frame out the photo with a plain, dark color to break up the busy background.  Beautiful job Sharon!

I love the way Kris created an old fashioned frame and labels with filigree stamps!  Also, the newsprint background and color combination on this page work so well with the wonderful photo.  Great design and ideas Kris!

Check back tomorrow for a brand new challenge from Holly!

MDSM84... Let's go Vintage!

Hi, it's Tami.  For this week's template, I have a fairly simple design leaving it open to a lot of creative enhancements.  My challenge is to incorporate a vintage feel or vintage photo into your page.  This is something I've been wanting to do for a long time.  There are lots of great downloads with grunge or vintage elements, such as Gorgeous Grunge, Downtown Grunge, and Old School.  So, dig out those old photos of your grandparents or even great-grandparents and have fun!

  • The Challenge will end on Saturday October 4th @ 12pm EST.
  • Have fun!

I would like to thank everyone for playing with us this week. It is always fun to see everyone's different takes on the sketch and I love seeing all the important moment in our lives shared!

Breelin Renwick - Craft-somnia Momma

I have to say that I fancy this page because of the DISNEY factor! But overall, a great page and a great way to capture a Disney day! Love the details like the crown on the Mickey ears! The AWESOME photos also pop against the white layer. Congrats Bree!

Tanya Harvey ~ Tanya's Stamps & Things

Proud moment for the whole family! I love the grid dsp background. I love the brad confetti look. I love the colors used. Congrats Tanya!
